报告摘要:
In this talk, I will provide a brief overview of the last decade’s research (2011-2020) conducted by Professor Jeff Kimble’s Quantum Optics Group at Caltech, focused on the interaction between atoms and light in nanostructures. I will outline the evolution of key experimental platforms and the historical significance of major milestones achieved in the lab, including breakthroughs with microtoroids, nanofibers, and the “legendary” alligator photonic crystal waveguide. These advancements have demonstrated that entangling atoms and photons within nanostructures uncovers novel quantum phenomena and reveals new forms of quantum matter. This talk aims to summarize the lab’s status at its closure, address the remaining experimental challenges, and highlight future opportunities for exploration. It will also commemorate the remarkable journey led by Jeff Kimble, inspiring continued exploration along the groundbreaking path he pioneered.
